Not handyman work

For clarity: electrical rewiring, plumbing rough-in, structural work, roofing — we refer these to licensed specialists we work with regularly.

What a handyman day actually covers

Most of our handyman work is a list, not a job: a door that will not latch, a leaking shut-off, trim that came off when the sofa went in, a light fixture, a patch where a shelf used to be. Booked as one visit, those take an afternoon. Booked one at a time they take four separate trips and cost you four times the setup.

So we ask for the whole list up front. It is the single biggest thing that keeps small-job cost down, and it is in both our interests.

What we will not do, and who we send you to

We do not touch panel work, gas lines, structural changes or roofing. Those go to licensed specialists we work with regularly, and we will hand you the name rather than taking the job and improvising.

Minor electrical and plumbing within our scope — a fixture, a faucet, a shut-off, rough-in we have opened ourselves — we do. The line is not about difficulty, it is about what it is right for us to be responsible for.

Why small jobs are hard to quote over the phone

A ten-minute description of a small job is almost never the whole job. A door that will not latch might be the strike plate, or it might be a sagging frame in a settled house. A dripping shut-off might be the packing nut, or it might be a valve that will not survive being turned.

We quote small work after looking at it. For a list of several items we can usually look at them all in one visit and give you one number.

FAQ

How fast can you come out?

Usually within 2-3 business days for standard work. Same-week for emergencies.

How do you charge?

Small jobs = hourly + materials. Larger jobs = flat-rate estimate written up-front.

Do you supply parts and materials?

Small items (screws, anchors, standard parts) yes. Bigger items (specific TV mount, fixture) — we recommend you buy so you get exactly what you want.
